FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PA FARM BUREAU ASKS MEMBERS TO PERJURE THEMSELVES TO LAWMAKERS. Darrin Youker issues an immediate request of the non-farmer associate members to commit the act of perjury and misidentify themselves to Pennsylvania lawmakers via their website Act Now Oppose Sunday Hunting Campaign automated form.  The first line reads “As a farmer, I'm deeply concerned about Senate Bill 147 and the efforts to allow for Sunday hunting. As your constituent, I am asking you to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 147”. Darrin Youker, Director of Government Affairs, Pa. Farm Bureau states in Oppose Sunday Hunting Expansion Facebook video “It is important that all of us within the organization take time to participate in this action request.” https://www.facebook.com/PennsylvaniaFarmBureau/videos/326644847985844/ Why would Pa. Farm Bureau autocrats ask 39,357 non-farmer associate members that have no input or any voting rights at the very start for PFB policy development processes to take action on this initiative or any other? From the start these 39,357 non-farmer members obviously are not important enough, their voices and concerns do not matter when policies are being developed and considered; if they did then they would be included in the PFB policy development process, not just an innocent bystander. Questions for Pa. Farm Bureau Autocrats:  Why does this non-farmer/non-voting membership count and matter now? Why misrepresent them to Pa. legislators? Why give the stated impression “It is your right and your privilege as a member of this organization to steer our policy and then help us achieve those victories in Pa. General Assembly” to 63% of PFB membership that is ignored and not allowed to participate from the start? Why should they participate in this immoral request without editing by entering their name, contact information, and address; then hitting send message ending with “I'm a farmer, I'm a landowner and I'm opposed to Sunday hunting. I'm asking you to vote NO on Senate Bill 147”.  To all lawmakers.  This PFB Act Now Oppose Sunday Hunting Expansion email/call-in campaign should not be trusted.  The Pa. Farm Bureau has set it up as another bravado campaign that misrepresents their organization.  Don’t allow the paper tiger to fool you!
Pa. Farm Bureau advertising display shows actual membership as of November 2018. The image breaks down the total membership. Regular members/farmers that can vote on Pa. Farm Bureau issues and Associate members/non-farmer who have no voting authority at all.
HOW MANY FARMERS DOES THE PENNSYLVANIA FARM BUREAU REPRESENT? Is It All About PFB Leadership Autocracy?
Why is Pa. Farm Bureau autocracy using its members this way?
Should we trust Pa. Farm Bureau?  Do they truly represent their rank and file members? Why is Pa. Farm Bureau holding their members, hunters, farmers, landowners, and wildlife conservation hostage?
Contact Your Legislator let them know to support SB 147 and Pa. Farm Bureau should not be infringing on Pa. Commonwealth citizens andlandowner rights. Contact Pa. WHY SUNDAY HUNTING IS IMPORTANT

Derek's story - In a country where we are supposed to free. Hunting opportunities are held back.

Sorry, it took me a few days to respond but work keeps me very busy during the week. I will try and keep this short but informative. When I posted on your page I was actually enjoying a great morning archery hunting with my wife, whom I got into hunting about four years ago. Because of our busy schedules, we don’t get a lot of quiet time together. During the week she doesn’t get off work at 6 pm and has an hour commute. She gets home just after 7 pm, by the time we shower and have our dinner we are laying our heads down to start the next day over again.

Come Saturday’s in the fall we are sitting next to one another in a tree stand hoping one of us gets a shot but never upset if we don’t. It’s just nice to spend time together in the woods. As many people know Pennsylvania weather is often unpredictable in the fall. So many times over the last year we have lost one or both of the hunts we are able to enjoy together during the one day [Saturday] we have an opportunity to hunt. I have found it extremely difficult to get a deer in range for my wife on one of the seven days we get to hunt together during the season. She was actually becoming somewhat discouraged until last year when she was able to harvest her first deer.

My wife isn’t a gun nut so she only hunts archery. It’s disappointing to us both that we only got to spend one day a week in 2018 in the woods together hunting. In a country where we are supposed to be so free, we are having opportunities held back by people, many of them that don’t even hunt or understand it.

Most of our hunting takes place at our cabin that is two hours away. To think we drive two hours every weekend to only get two hunts is very upsetting. How can we expect to get more kids and more people in general interested in hunting when our legislators are holding back opportunities. I hope this helps although I have all but given up hope for Sunday hunting in my lifetime.

LETTER TO SPORTS/OPINION - REASON TO END SUNDAY HUNTING BAN

Reasons to end Sunday hunting ban
Written and submitted by:
Bruce L. Tague, Vice President of Government Affairs of the Sportsmen’s Alliance Columbus, Ohio. Reasons to end Sunday hunting ban I found it curious as to why Campbell would attempt to confuse readers by using a federal study to convince your readers that hunting and hunting activities were “well down the list” and that “Other outdoor recreational activities provide as much if not more economic activity than hunting.” Here are some Pennsylvania numbers for your readers to consider, and we hope use to support us in our effort to finally end the ban. Pennsylvania has the most active hunters in the nation, and in 2017 alone, there were 885,632 general licenses sold. The average hunter spends $1200 per year. A recent economic impact study done by one of the nation’s top economic firms, John Dunham and Associates, New York, showed that Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania would create an economic boon of nearly $1 billion in economic activity per year and $310 million in wages from constructions jobs to manufacturing and financial services. Campbell and the PA Grange have every right to be opposed to Sunday hunting. However, I highly doubt that he and the PA Grange’s 7,200 members represent all Pennsylvanians nor all of the 885,632 sportsmen and women who hunted in Pennsylvania in 2017. It was disingenuous, at best, to utilize numbers from a federal study to claim that hunting in this commonwealth is, “well down the list and other outdoor recreational activities provide as much if not more economic activity than hunting.” Lastly, Campbell says “Hunters get six days a week. Other users of the outdoors should get one day where the fear of hunting accidents (ricochets, etc.) does not put a damper on their enjoyment of the outdoors.” Campbell correctly points out that sportsmen and women share the woods six days a week and have been doing so for decades. It is a fact that firearms are discharged in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania every day. It is also a fact that hunting in Pennsylvania is safer than cheerleading. Outdoor enthusiasts have safely enjoyed the wilds of Pennsylvania throughout hunting seasons for generations, and adding Sundays will do nothing to disrupt that history. In today’s economy, many of our hunters are working several jobs to provide for their families. In many cases, Sunday is the only day to go hunting because of their job schedule. We at the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue the fight to end this economic unfairness. I invite your readers and all Pennsylvanians to join us. Bruce L. Tague

Beginning on March 27th until April 6th, I conducted a poll across my Senatorial District, which consists of Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Union Counties, to measure support / opposition to Sunday hunting in Pennsylvania.

While I personally do not oppose Sunday hunting, I certainly respect the views of those who I represent in rural Pennsylvania. As you can see from the graphics below, the results are in! A total of 2,831 votes were cast from across the state (multiple votes cast by the same individual were removed from the poll). Further a total of 1,112 votes were cast from individuals who reside in the region I represent.
