SUNDAY HUNTING ALLOWED IN NEW JERSEY, PA RESIDENCE BUY LICENSE

June 2018 - PA RESIDENCE BUY NEW JERSEY HUNTING LICENSE - SUNDAY HUNTING ALLOWED IN NEW JERSEY

From: Michael Thomas, Leadership Group, Hunters United For Sunday Hunting
To:  Harold  Daub, Executive Director, Hunters United For Sunday Hunting

Subject: NJ hunting license sales to PA

Harold,

Over three thousand PA residents buy NJ hunting licenses every year. They are sold by calendar year (that's why the numbers for 2018 are low, they would be much higher if it was August).

I didn't think that many PA residents hunted there. If Jersey is this high, the other states are even higher.

Hope this helps, the attachment is at the bottom as a PDF file.

Thanks,

Michael Thomas

Michaels conversation with New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Department:

Hi, I am a resident of Pennsylvania doing a research project on hunting.
Is there anyway I could find out how many non resident adult hunting licenses and non resident junior hunting licenses were sold to Pennsylvania residents over the last few years?
I don't need any personal information either just some general numbers.
If you don't have access to this, would the information be available online or from another source?
Thank You,
Michael Thomas

New Jersey Fish and Wildlife:
Information on the number of non-resident licenses sold is available at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/license_sales.htm .  For a breakdown by state, and for the number of free Nonresident Youth Licenses issued, our licensing staff would need to sort some data I do not have access to.  I will forward your message to licensing supervisor Patty Teixeira requesting the information – but for what time frame?  The “last few years” isn’t specific – is three years enough?

Michael Thomas:
The last three years would be fine. I am a hunter in Pennsylvania trying to help get Sunday hunting passed in my own state.

I know a lot of people who hunt exclusively in New Jersey (who are from PA) because you can bow hunt on Sundays in WMAs and private property with permission. This doubles the hunting days for most working families. We know NJ is not a gun friendly state and with the population density, archery keeps a lot of people happy.
If you could get me the last three years of people from PA who bought a form of a hunting license I would be grateful.
Thanks again,

Attached is a multi-year report with total number of PA Residents on file who purchased NonResident NJ hunting licenses.
