state aren’t aware that hunters are the only people paying for wildlife
management in Pennsylvania,” [Askew] said. “Everyone enjoys wildlife, but
hunters are the only ones paying the bills.”
As an independent state agency, the
Game Commission does not receive any tax revenues from the state’s General
Fund. It is funded primarily by the sale of hunting licenses.

level as well, a special tax on guns, ammo, bows, crossbows and hunting goods
created to preserve wildlife, land for hunting and hunter education courses
provided by states for free.

As a non-hunting hiker, this would
negatively affect me, since I like to have one day during the week in the fall
where I’m not sharing the woods with people with guns.
That being said, I have no more
right to these woods than anyone else, and it’s just silly to not allow hunting
on Sundays. Hunting is largely a family activity, and people shouldn’t have to take
days off of work and pull their kids out of school to enjoy it.
We’re only talking about a handful
of days during the year anyway, and I’ll just suck it up and wear some orange.

I do not think there is reason to be
paranoid about being shot while hiking on state lands in PA. If you are hiking
on WMAs wear an orange vest during season. There have been almost no incidents
on WMAs in the last 20 years for hikers being shot by a hunter. Also, chances
are, hikers are sharing the woods with people with firearms all year round.

you want. Just don't buy a car or hunt anything besides crow, coyote, and fox.
